The session brought together myself, Dominic Davies and Reed Puc (who has just submitted his PhD dissertation under our supervision). ‘ve written here before about what it means to me to spend some time playing records and recording them the sessions to share later (also here). Taking the time to select, play, listen to and later rearrange and make recordings of my playing/listening sessions is for me akin to meditating, attentively watching a good film, reading a good book for pleasure or doing research.

ast term I taught the Digital Information Technologies and Architectures (DITA) postgraduate module at #citylis. Sessions are divided in an hour and half of lecture and an hour and a half of computer lab work. As part of the module students created datasets obtained using data from the Twitter and Altmetric APIs.

Using Open Data in Higher Education – A Mini Survey

We will be organising knowledge exchange workshops between HCID researchers, mental health professionals, comics scholars and comics artists, focusing on the reuse and adaptation into comics of the dementia care best practice data collected the Care’N’Share project.

Over the photograph of the whole beach (the abandoned amusement park behind), a lonely bird.  The next photograph shows the bird, white and black, flying, spread wings, such a seabird, a postcard of a living creature.  My friend shows me the photograph, one he took knowing I’d see it, knowing I’d know what the bird,  its colours, the closed beak mean, its shape cut against the grey sky, all the bloody melancholy we do share.
