My friend Pat is a big TV fan, and, over the years, he has maintained that, as television episodes go—particularly for those series with some kind of narrative arc—the second-to-last ones are usually better than the finales.  For whatever reason, he has repeatedly said, they are the ones with the stronger writing, the more intense drama, the more meaningful action.

So far, the research has shown that women have less voice in the media than men do, both as the creators of news, the subjects, and the interviewees. This exclusion is especially in the most appealing sections such as politics.

I woke up this morning to multiple messages from friends saying how sorry they were that David Cassidy had died in the early hours of this morning. Strange, but true.
