Lions are carnivores, meaning they only eat meat. Their diet consists mainly of large herbivores such as zebra, antelope, buffalo, and wildebeest, which they hunt in the savannah. However, lions are opportunistic predators and will also feed on smaller prey such as rabbits, birds, and reptiles when larger prey is not available. Lions are apex predators, meaning they have no natural predators and are at the top of the food chain.
