A special issue of Neuroinformatics is dedicated to the Neuroscience Information Framework, an NIH project to develop a (OA) framework for identifying and locating neuroscience resources. Ancestry.co.uk now hosts an OA database of Slave Registers of former British Colonial Dependencies, 1812-1834.  There's an unusual story here, reported by Ligali.org: Comments The Ligali story says that the data are owned by Ancestry.com.  But I don't understand that.  The data must be in the public domain, and it appears that the original paper documents are in the custody of the UK National Archives.
