** Poster in institute repository:** https://doi.org/10.34734/FZJ-2024-06811 Graphs are powerful tools for representing real-world objects and relations in numerous domains, such as bioinformatics, pattern recognition, and computer vision. However, quantifying their similarity or difference is crucial despite the computationally expensive execution.

Here we are most of the way through March and I’m just getting around to my first “weekly” recap. It’s been a busy month — I’m writing a few papers of my own which I’ll share here when they’re published, and I took some much needed R&R in Portugal where I traded my stack of research papers for some escapist sci-fi. But I’m back now and making my way through a deep backlog.

It started like every other outbreak had, silently, invisibly, spreading before anyone realized it was already too late. Except this time, it wasn’t too late. For the first time in human history, we saw it coming. I stood inside The Helix, the nerve center of the Global Biosecurity Command (GBC), watching as the latest AI-generated pathogen forecast flickered across the glass wall.

Here’s a short post on another 5PVC presentation: Raber et al. (2025) on a musculoskeletal lesion in an apatosaur femur. At the Utah Field House in Vernal, there’s a partial skeleton of an apatosaur from just north of Dinosaur National Monument. It’s nicknamed the “Soft Sauropod” because the bone is softer than the matrix, which made preparation a bit of an adventure.

Over the past two years, the Information & Openness focal area has made progress in promoting openness in research information through many internal discussions and wider projects. Our efforts have focused on supporting openness-driven data usage and decision making in science management and evaluation, and recognizing the important role open research information plays in these processes.
