The Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) and the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) have partnered to advance open science and research data management in the region. Through support from DataCite’s Global Access Fund (GAF), this collaboration focuses on building the technical infrastructure needed to support experimental data in line with the FAIR principles.

It’s been a hot minute since last update on this lab note page. Things since last write up had been quite hectic, both in good and bad sense.

In cybersecurity, defenders have to get everything right. Cyber defense must patch every vulnerability, secure every endpoint, anticipate every exploit. Attackers, by contrast, only need to find one overlooked flaw. That imbalance, which has shaped decades of cyber conflict, has a biological analogue.

Licensing spans areas of library work such as promoting open access, helping people navigate publication rights, advocating for open infrastructure, and the technological elements of research and learning. When used well, open licences can underpin a lot of possibilities for finding, accessing, creating, and preserving scholarly work.
