PKP invites the community to join its Software Development Update webinar on February 5th, 2024, at 8 AM PST. This event will be of interest to Strategic Partners, Development Partners, Financial Contributors, and Community Contributors, as well as the wider community interested in, or using, PKP’s free and open source software (FOSS) for independent scholarly publishing.
The highly anticipated Indonesia ORCiD OJS User Community meeting was held on December 13th (PST) / 14th (WIB), 2023. The recap and recording is now available. The Public Knowledge Project’s most widely used software, Open Journal Systems (OJS), is often used for open access publishing, and is interoperable with ORCID.

As 2023 marks the conclusion of PKP’s twenty-fifth year, it provides the opportunity for some brief reflections on the project’s beginnings and its evolution over the past quarter-century. From the early stages of seeking startup grants for the creation of open source software to the use of OJS today by over 30,000 journals around the world, the journey has been quite remarkable.
