A Beginner’s Guide

In global health, where challenges are as diverse as they are complex, we need new ways for health professionals to connect, learn, and drive change. Imagine a digital space where a nurse from rural Nigeria, a policymaker from India, and a WHO expert can share experiences, learn from each other, and collectively tackle global health challenges. That’s the essence of Teach to Reach.

Interested in understanding how ecological systems change through time? Morgan Ernest’s Lab at the University of Florida has an opening for a PhD student to start Fall 2025. The new student will work with our long-term field site in Portal, Arizona to study biodiversity dynamics of mammals and plants to understand and predict changes in species abundances and biodiversity in response to changing climate and biotic conditions.

In last post we covered, Privacy Preserving Measurement (PPM) and discussed how Distributed Aggregation Protocol (DAP) works (see here). Today, we’ll explore how to implement a simplified version of the DAP using Python with Prio3 as our Verifiable Distributed Aggregation Function (VDAF). This implementation will support multiple clients, demonstrating how DAP can aggregate data from multiple sources while maintaining privacy.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Brett Becker‘s tragic passing. Brett has been a regular speaker, supporter and attendee at SIGCSE journal club since we started in 2020 and we’ve have often discussed Brett’s papers at SIGCSE journal club. We’d planned to discuss another one of Brett’s papers at our October meetup but we’ve postponed that to a later date, in light of his passing.
