It’s been a big week in the genomics+bioinformatics space. This post expands on a few of the recent papers I posted in a Twitter thread. I highlight a few in the deep dive at the top, then link to a few other papers of note later on. Subscribe (free!) to Paired Ends to get summaries like this delivered to your e-mail as soon as I write them.
As immunization programs worldwide struggle to recover from pandemic disruptions, the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) offers a novel, practitioner-led approach to accelerate progress towards global vaccination goals. From March to June 2022, the Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) conducted the first Full Learning Cycle (FLC) of the Movement for IA2030, engaging 6,185 health professionals from low- and middle-income countries.
Back in 2017, I was asked to peer review an article and its author asked if I would like the review to be “open” – that is that my name would be shown as a reviewer; 10.1073/pnas.1709586114[/cite/] indeed it was!
In this living document, I will list all production systems I’m aware of that use fully homomorphic encryption (FHE). For background on FHE, see my overview of the field. If you have any information about production FHE systems not in this list, or corrections to information in this list, please send me an email with sufficient detail allow the claim to be publicly verified.
I am still catching up with a lot of work, and found out I actually had forgotten to blog about this cool article by Denise Slenter: “Discovering life’s directed metabolic (sub)paths to interpret human biochemical markers using the DSMN tool” (doi:10.1039/D3DD00069A). This paper explains how various open science resources (Wikidata, Reactome, WikiPathways) are used to visualize the biological story of the data from two metabolomics experiments
My new blog/newsletter ("Paired Ends") is now at blog.stephenturner.us. I'll be posting semi-regular updates and literature highlights in bioinformatics, computational biology, and data science, along with the occasional post on programming.
The concept of “norms shifting perspective”, in the field of immunization and global health focuses on strategies that aim to alter norms and attitudes towards vaccination to promote uptake and acceptance. This perspective acknowledges the influence that social norms have on individuals decisions regarding vaccination. Aims to utilize this insight to enhance acceptance through well crafted policies, messaging and interventions.
