I am currently preparing for the courses I teach in term 2 and one of my objectives this year is to create course websites ¹ with course material that the students can access but that can also be made available publicly in the hope that they might be useful to someone ² . It is also an opportunity to move away from a workflow that discourages improvement and makes editing material cumbersome.

Our REST API makes all of the metadata we hold publicly available. It receives the majority of our API traffic, with around 1 billion hits per month. It’s one of the key ways that we fulfil our mission to make research objects easy to find, cite, link, assess, and reuse.

It is with great excitement that we release DeepForest 2.0! This is the first major release since the project took shape in its current form. The codebase has been updated to match modern machine learning workflows, including better command line tools, configurations and package management.

I’ve dabbled a bit with napari – the python-based image viewer – but never needed to use it seriously. I had a real use case so I thought I’d write up the process of how I got going with napari, in case it helps others.
