I recently compared three academic AI search tools: Primo Research Assistant, Web of Science Research Assistant, and Scopus AI for a review article.

Am 28.03.2025 veranstaltete das Projekt OA Datenpraxis (Pampel et al. 2024) das erste Webinar zum Thema ”Erfassung von Publikationskosten an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen in Deutschland”. In dem Webinar wurden Ergebnisse einer Umfrage vorgestellt, die im Jahr 2024 durchgeführt wurde.

Last year, I received a grant from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) program for a project called PRISM: PReservation and RecognItion of Spatial patterns using Machine learning . Between August 2024 and August 2026, I am in the Remote Sensing and Spatial Modeling group at the University of Muenster, Germany.

I was gobsmacked to get a note from the SIGARCH ASPLOS steering committee that our 2013 paper "Unikernels: library operating systems for the cloud" won the most influential paper award at the conference last week! I couldn't make it to Rotterdam myself due to the travel time, but Richard Mortier was already there and so accepted the award on the whole team's behalf!

On Wednesday this week (April 9th, 2025) I gave a talk entitled “Future interface(s) for BHL” (the slides are on FigShare) at BHL Day 2025.
